Nicholas Sparks
This was a book that I had in my collection for quite some time and never got around to reading. While I was waiting for my latest shipment of books I began to read this one in the afternoons while sitting in the car line at my child’s school. In sharp contrast to the last book I read I found this one to have characters that I really wanted to like. I couldn’t find things to dislike about any of them. The book centers on a man who returns home on leave from the military and meets a young woman whom he falls in love with immediately. Their relationship is so simple and innocent that I found myself wanting them to have a happily ever after. Just when you think that they will be able to move on with their lives together the events of September 11th pull them apart and it seems that they will never have a life together. When fate brings them back together again later in life it is almost as though they were destined to be together. The ending left me happy for the characters and yet still feeling like things were not as they should be. This was a good read and it was a book that I would recommend.
