So much about Dr. Seuss is in the mail this month because of his birthday being on March 2nd and also the release of Horton Hears a Who at the movie theaters. I haven’t seen the new release yet but I do love the original book. My daughter who is in kindergarten was studying Dr. Seuss at school this month and they were reading several of his books. I ordered the original animated version of Horton Hears a Who so that they could watch it at school. My kids LOVE this movie. It is such a cute story and her teacher explained what the moral of the story is for the kids so that they knew what the point was. It was so wonderful for them to read the book and then see the movie and to get the point that Horton was being so selfless. While I love it when they make mixture films where they mix real action with animation I have found that alot of the time they include jokes that really are not made for children. Luckily they are done in a way that most kids don’t even get the jokes. I don’t know if Horton was done in this way but I think that they original is a great way to introduce the kids to the story before taking them to see the movie. I only paid under 10.00 for it at Columbia House and it comes with extra stories included on it including Horton Hatches an Egg. This is also one of my all time favorites. I also have to say that buying a collection of Dr. Seuss books for your children could be a catalyst to start them reading and keep them interested and also make it fun. I bought ours from a mail order book company years ago but I bet that you can get them through some of the book club links on the ride side bar on my site. Enjoy!
