I just finished Suze Orman’s Women & Money: Owning the Power to Control Your Destiny book and found it extremely enlightening for women. The truth is that women these days have come a long way from the old days when it comes to equality. The other truth is that there are still many places in our lives that we take a back seat. Financial security is one of those areas. We get credit cards that are totally tied to our spouses, mortgages that are totally tied to our spouses and tie ourselves up completely in our married life. We are handicapping ourselves when we do this. We have no idea what things can occur in our lives that would require us to have a seperate financial life from our spouse. Spouses pass away, divorce occurs and lives fall apart. As women we need to be aware of what our financial status is in the world both as a part of a married couple but also as an individual who might need to live on our own. Suzy doesn’t just go into this she also helps to give women steps for getting the most out of life. She teaches women how to be aware of what money we owe. She also teaches women how to find out what their FICO scores are and whether their debt are "good debts" or "bad debts". This book has so much useful information for women, both married and single. I highly recommend it to anyone trying to get a hold of their financial life.
