As an avid reader I am always shoving things into my books to use as bookmarks. I once opened an old book and found a rebate check I had stuck in there while sitting in car line to pick up my child. I gab just about anything I can find and throw it in there.
I decided that one of the things I will do with the kids this summer is to take a day and make bookmarks. I can laminate them so that they won’t get destroyed and it will keep me from losing my mail in my old books. I researched some ideas and I decided that I like this one the best.

This is a site by National Geographic and it has a program that your children can use to create and print out bookmarks. It is very simple. It allows them to choose the words they want on the bookmark. They can choose an object and a border to put on the bookmark. When they are done they just click PRINT and they are done.
Another great place that is free is Crayola.

The kids can print out the bookmark pages and color them. When they are done you just laminate them. This is great for keeping the kids busy while another is doing the NG ones on the computer.
It will be nice to actually do some projects this summer that I know we will use. Check them out!

Super links. I teach high school, and I make bookmarks with them early in the year each year on an early release day (or other hard to have class day). I’ve bookmarked these sites.
