Help with reading

April 30th, 2008 · 1 Comment

One of the greatest gifts of my life is the ability to read and comprehend what I am reading. I love being able to escape into a book and relax for a while. Whether it is 15 minutes or a few hours there is nothing better than a good book.

For many children and adults reading is not so easy or enjoyable. They have difficulties with reading or with comprehending what they read. This can be frustrating and it can turn them off to books for a lifetime. The ability to read and comprehend is absolutely life changing. Children and adults who read are going to have more opportunities and a better chance at a successful life.

I am a huge advocate for tutoring. I think tutoring should start at the first sign that there is an issue. This may mean tutoring as young as Pre-K. Unfortunately free tutoring just isn’t as prevalent as it used to be. This means that parents have to make the choice to pay for the services for their child. Adults have to make the decision to get the help they need. The results will more than pay for the cost of the sessions.

Most tutoring places are out of the home and you have to bring your child in to see a tutor. Not anymore. I have found a place that will bring a tutor to your home, your child’s school, or even the local library. The name of the company is Club Z! Tutoring. These tutors are state certified and degreed teachers who will do reading, science, history or Math Tutoring and they will work at the child’s own pace. The appointments are scheduled at times that are convenient to the child and the parents and the same tutor works with the student from beginning to end. The sessions are one on one so that there is not more than one student working with a tutor at a time.

Helping another person learn to read could be the absolute most important gift we can give to someone else. If you know someone who is having issues with reading or any other subject please consider introducing them to tutoring as an option to help them get caught up and learn the skills they need to be successful students.

This looks like a great organization. I had never heard of it, but I’m impressed.
