I have been watching the news lately and I feel so horrible for all of those people in the mid-west who are losing everything because of the flooding. Having grown up in the Greater New Orleans area I am well aware of what it is like to experience flooding in our home. Luckily I had moved north a little before Katrina so that we didn’t get water in our home for that storm. In the past when we had water we had to get in to the house with brooms and mops and clear out our home ourselves. It is so emotionally draining to sweep out all of your belongings. You guys may have read my post a while back about losing 2 relatives in their home in Katrina. Once it was time to clean up the mess of their home it would have been wonderful to have some kind of restoration company that could come in and clear out the belongings and the home so that we could have assessed what was able to be salvaged. Since we didn’t know that such a service existed and just being inside the home was too emotional since they had passed away in there we made the decision to have the home torn down with all of the belongings in it. Had we known about some type of disaster clean up services at the time we could have had them go through the house and clear it out. I am happy to see that someone has taken up the task of doing this service for people. Perhaps it will save people money, time and tears by having someone else get in there and complete the job so that they can on with starting over.
