I was doing some research today for my series on books made into movies and I happened across a fact that I did not know. The Disney movie Meet the Robinson’s from 2007 was based on a book. The name of the book is A Day with Wilbur Robinson and it was written by William Joyce. The movie is not based in fact on the book in total but uses the family from the book to create a storyline. The book is actually more of an introduction to the family. This book is really a children’s book but the reviews I have read say that it is a great books for parents and grandparents to share with their young ones. I love the cover art on this book and can see exactly where the concept for the characters in the movie came from. The family in the book is just as wacky as the one in the movie. The jokes in the book are equal opportunity. There are jokes that only children will find laughable but there are also scenes that are purely adult chuckles. I think I will go find this one at the library this week for the kids. It also gave me the idea to start doing some research on what other Disney movies are based on books. I think it would be wonderful to find out where the characters originated.
