Disney Planning Report

June 26th, 2008 · 1 Comment

I know you guys are asking what this is about. Well I am a Disney planner. I don’t mean that I just make reservations and let it be at that. I plan every second of our trips out to maximize our enjoyment and also our rest time. There is nothing worse then tired kids.

So, my first step was to decide when we were going to go. My husband and I had gone in 2007 during October and went to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and we decided right away that we wanted the kids to see this. When I knew we were going back I knew that October would be the time to go. My children have a day off the first week of October because of our Parish Fair. This would be perfect because alot of people will be waiting until the next week to go because of the Columbus Day holiday. This means the kids will miss only four days of school. So then I realized that I wanted to be able to make the money to pay for this ultimate trip (I end up calling them all ultimate by the way) totally with my on line projects and not have to take money out of our accounts to do it. So that means that I needed at least a year to plan. So October 2009 it is.

My next step is to purchase my touring guides. I pre-ordered my Passporter last night and I will give you guys a review of that later. Today we are going to go by and get the Ultimate Guide and the Kids’ Official Guide from Birbaum. This will be the gist of what I am able to do until October when I can start making my reservations. I have done my resort comparisons on price and location and made the decision that two adjoining rooms at POP Century is the best for us because we are a family of 5.

Now comes the hard part. waiting. That is where the money earning comes in. It will help me pass the time until we go. It will also give me a reason to wait. I will give you guys some updates on the earning challenge I have going on with my friends Catherine and Kimberly. If all goes well I will have $4000 earned by the time it is 45 days out from my trip. You guys need to help me keep on track. This is important to me. We could afford to pay for the trip without me earning it on my own. I just want to do this. I want to be able to save my husband the stress. I want to be able to use the vacation money to do the extra things that we never have done at Disney. I hope you guys will indulge me a little in blogging about this every so often. It might just work as a memorial to my trip also, a trip report of sorts.

So how are you doing with it Janet? I have to say I am super glad you had me start on this because I almost have the “overbudget” part of our honeymoon paid for in just 1 month!!! At this rate our excursions should be covered too by this time next year and we will truly be sticking with our “budgeted” honeymoon amount.
