Something you guys don’t know about me? Well I used to be a rodeo groupie. As a matter of fact, my husband was a bull rider for a while and was riding bareback horses when we met. We used to spend just about every weekend at one rodeo or another. It was such an exciting thing and we had a ball every time. He stopped riding many years ago. It wasn’t a good pastime for a married man with three kids. Actually he stopped before the marriage and the kids. Just considering marriage was enough to make him stop. We still enjoy rodeos but now we are strictly watchers.

We love the small local rodeos but really one of our all time favorites is the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo that is held at Reliant Stadium each March. This is one HUGE rodeo. The best part is that it is not just a rodeo. They have concerts by big name bands and acts. They also have plenty of activities for children including rides. It was a tradition for us to see George Strait but they have so many other acts that play. I think in the past they have had Tim McGraw, Miley Cyrus, Brooks and Dunn and so many other great acts. We haven’t been in a while and I seem to remember that it was at the Astrodome when we used to go. It will be nice to see how things are now that it is at Reliant Stadium. We started having kids in 2001 and there were 3 in four years. Now they are old enough to make the 6 hour drive with us and I think they will love it.

This year we are trying to make it back after a break of a few years. We have a bunch of friends from one of our travel planning sites we frequent who live in Texas and meet at the rodeo each year. Last year was Easter weekend so we couldn’t go but they told us all about how awesome the Brooks and Dunn concert was. This year we are making plans to go. I can’t wait to go back. The kids have never been with us but I just know that they are going to love it. I was doing a little research to see if I could find out who was playing this year but it seems that they haven’t announced it yet. However, you can buy RodeoHouston tickets now you just won’t know who is playing that night until it is released. I am wondering if it wouldn’t be worth it to just go ahead and purchase the tickets now since we know what day we will be there. I doubt we will change the dates even once the concerts change so why not get the good seats now? I am such a trip planner that it drives my husband crazy. His way of doing things is to just show up and buy tickets at the door. I plan every trip and outing well in advance. I guess that is why we get along so well, we balance each other. So now I have another trip to plan. If you are anywhere near Houston in the month of March then make sure to get tickets to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. You won’t regret it.
