100 Words Workbook for 1st graders

by janet on July 9, 2008

My oldest child is getting ready to go in to 1st grade and she is an avid learner. She loves to do workbooks and practice her basic skills. I think this is awesome since it usually means that she is ahead of other kids her age. She is a very good reader and her math skill are way ahead of where they need to be. The struggle for us is to find good workbooks for her to do that aren’t ahead or behind of her learning curve. I found this workbook while searching for some new books for her today. The name of the book is 100 Words Kids Need to Read by 1st grade and it was written by Lisa Traumbauer. This book includes 256 pages of word games and puzzles and practice pages to help familiarize your child with 100 sight words that children should have mastered in 1st grade. If you remember a while back I told you about using sight words to teach my 4 year old to start reading. Well it seems that sight words are becoming more and more important to the success of children’s reading. I can’t wait to get this workbook since she finished her other workbooks for the summer. I have read some amazing reviews about the workbook and it seems that children enjoy doing the work in this book. I will be sure to let you guys know what she thinks about it once we receive it.
