For those of you who love the American Girl series of books and dolls I wanted to let you know that they are set to release their newest movie to DVD. The wildly popular movie "Kit Kittredge: An American Girl" is set to be released to DVD on October 28, 2008. This brings their library of AG movies to four. There is a movie each for Molly, Felicity and Samantha and now Kit. If you aren’t sure if this is something you want for your daughter you can catch the American Girl movies Samantha: An American Girl Holiday and Felicity: An American Girl Adventure on the Hallmark Channel on Saturday September 20, 2008 starting at 9 am EST. I have seen all of the movies except for the newest Kit movie so I am including the DVD set as part of my girls’ Christmas gifts. They will also each get a doll and outfit and finally I am purchasing a book set for my oldest daughter. I think my youngest is too young to appreciate and understand the issues that are dealt with in some of these books so I will hold off on hers for a little while. I am very excited about this year’s gifts. I feel like these dolls and books and movies will be something that I can bond with my girls over. I also feel like they will give the girls "role models" that are not the big breasted fashionistas we see in Barbie and Bratz. These dolls have real stories and real issues and real lives. I would love to hear about which of the historical dolls your girls love the most. My girls have each picked a doll but I admit I haven’t researched their entire stories yet. Input would be great!
