I have some real issues with coming up with interesting things to discuss for this book. I feel like I can’t remember the book at all. Part of that is the fact I have been reading book 3 but I also think New Moon is forgettable. Honestly, I felt like it was one of those Bobby Ewing Dallas things where Bella would wake up in the shower and the whole Edward being gone thing would have been a dream. Kind of like the book is an afterthought we could have done without.
What did I like? I like that I got to know Jacob Black better. I don’t know though that I have really seen the real Jacob yet. I like Bella when she is with him. I like the person she is with him. Strong. Not afraid of life. Daring. A young person. I like that he feels like family and not some stranger who drops in.
Why is he so easy to like and Edward so hard for me. The parts of the book when Bella goes to save Edward are unbelievable to me. What are the chances Bella would have made it out of the lair of the Volturi alive? These are vampires in the greatest sense who do not control themselves when it comes to taking prey they can take without being caught. I am also confused. I thought they wouldn’t take victims in the city? Isn’t that the point? So why was there a group of victims being marched in to the chambers as Bella was leaving? Why is it so important to them that Bella be changed because she knows the vampire secrets and yet they keep a human receptionist? Isn’t this person much more likely to tell since she has no reason not to? Confusing is what it is.
