Is it really October?

by janet on October 26, 2008

I live in Southeast Louisiana and I have to say it is so hard to get in to the holiday spirit as they arrive. Why? Because it is still 70-80 degrees outside. We did have a cold snap last week which meant it got down to the 50′s. How can I start thinking about Halloween and Thanksgiving and Christmas when we are wearing shorts? I am so envious of my friends up north who have a winter season. They get to feel the season and they get cold enough to start checking the prices of Brazil vacation packages just so they can escape the cold. We have about 3 weeks of real cold usually around Mardi Gras or late January. My idea of vacation (aside of course from my beloved Disney) would be to go somewhere with snow! I guess we all want to be where we aren’t. I am sure my friends up north wish they didn’t have so much snow. Oh well…I guess it is time to go outfit the Halloween costumes for the heat and humidity.
