I have several books going right now and I will be getting to a point where I can give you guys a review on them soon enough. I am reading The Shack by William P Young and also Tribute by Nora Roberts. I am enjoying both of them so far but neither have become books I can’t put down. I read each a little each night while I relax in the tub. I think it is just a matter of not having enough time to get in to the books enough to become enthralled because they are both really good books so far.
I have also started to read the American Girl book Meet Kit! that came with my daughter’s doll for Christmas. We are reading it together swapping off reading pages. I am enjoying this a great deal because she wants to discuss every detail we read about. I plan on getting her the rest of the set as soon as finances allow. I will be sure to give you a report on this one.
We also are reading the American Girl Mia! book that came with my younger daughter’s doll. This one is not so interesting so far. I guess because it is not historically based it doesn’t catch my interest as much and seems much more like a typical young girl’s book. Since she is only 5 I think it is boring her also. We may need to hold off on the books for her for a while. She will be reading herself soon enough and maybe she will be more interested at that point.
Finally, my kids each got their own age appropriate bibles for Christmas from my grandparents. We have been reading the same stories out of those each night for each child and discussing them. This is simple enough for the younger ones who are 4 and 5. They listen to the story and discuss what they think. The 7 year old has made this a major undertaking because she wants to discuss all of the historical facts of the story and she wants every minute detail explained. I love that she is so interested in it but it does make for a longer bed time ritual than usual.
I guess that sums up where we are with books right now. I am working on the possibility of reading and doing book club discussions on the Harry Potter series. I have never been interested in these books but I have decided that perhaps I will venture out of my comfort zone and try them out. I would love to know if this is something you guys would be interested in participating in.
