I keep reading about people who have perpetual pantries. These people are able to buy grocery items when they are at their absolute lowest and then stock up enough so they don’t need to buy again until the item is on sale again. They shop their local stores, pharmacies, and wholesale clubs to get the best prices and only buy items when they are at deep discounts.
They can keep their grocery bills very low by doing this while also making sure they always have the ingredients necessary to make their favorite dishes on hand. This means no running through drive thrus just because you don’t have time to stop at the store.
I love the idea of doing this but I have two issues with this. The first is that I don’t have space to store that kind of groceries either in my pantry or freezer. I would need to buy a free standing freezer and find a storage area for the dry goods. I also have had issues coming up with recipes that I would want to eat every week or every two weeks. I am sure if I record my dinner choices for a month I will see that we are eating much the same items anyway but I just can’t get a list of recipes to rotate nailed down.
I would love to hear from any of you who might do something similar to this and how you got set up.
