I don’t think that anyone out there would argue that retail stores that provide bad service or have unhappy or unpleasant employees will end up losing their customers. Why is it then that so many stores are still allowing people to work for them who are unpleasant and often down right rude? Is it because they don’t want to have to put more energy in to the hiring process, the training process, the management process or all of the above. It doesn’t take a lot of time or energy to make sure that the people they are hiring are actually fit for a jobs in sales? I don’t think everyone out their is cut out for selling or dealing with people. That is why there are other jobs out there for these people. So why is that I still run in to rude sales people on a daily basis? There are people out there begging for jobs who will go to work with a smile on their face and hopes of helping people with their purchasing decisions. Hire these people and send those who don’t enjoy their job in retail to another industry. Then I won’t have to walk in to a store and be ignored and worse spoken to in a rude manner like I am bothering the sales person or disturbing them from something more important like Facebook on their Iphone that is stashed in their pocket.
