The Godfather

by janet on April 2, 2009

I have noticed that the past few weekends the old Godfather movies have been playing on one of the cable stations. I don’t think I had ever seen any of the movies from beginning to end and I know I hadn’t seen the whole series. I got to thinking that I would probably really enjoy reading the books. I found three books on a book closeout site and ordered them this week. I can’t wait to get them and dive in to the series. I will be sure to let you guys know what I think as I am reading them.

I am still reading The Associate by John Grisham. I can’t get in to this book like I have his other books. It is an interesting story line and good characters but I guess maybe I am over him and James Patterson. I have read so many of their books that maybe I am just bored with them. I still read a little of the book everyday and I plan on finishing it in due time. Stay tuned for the review.

I also have the book Sybil on hold at the local library. I recently watched the remake of the 1970′s movie and realized that I would love to know the whole story. You know in matters such as this they always leave out the really tough parts. I am going to go pick it up today and start reading it right away.

Are there any books that you grew up knowing about but just never read? Would you go back and read them now or have you gone back and read them already?

Yeah, Moby Dick. I was a kid who aspired to read all the ‘classics’ I could get my hands on, but I had a H.S. teacher who was absolutely ga-ga over Melville. She said his name with an exaggerated Southern accent & sounded like she was crazy in love ~ it embarrassed the teenaged me & put me off ever reading any of his books. Anyway, recently, I discovered a site that sends out free e-books, in increments, & I chose Moby Dick as my 1st book through that medium. Thought I might ought to lay down that baggage after all these years! (Just started it, so can’t give any kind of review, yet.)
