After observing Thor for a month now, I am fairly certain that this dog comes from some strong Schutzhund backgroung. Hes a little taller then the average German Shephard, he uses his mouth a lot, especially to grab my arm, and he seems to have the anxiety associated with German Shephard Schutzhunds. For those of you that aren’t familiar with this term, Schutzhund means “for the sport of it”. Its training and competition for your dogs. There are three areas of judging. They are tracking, obedience and protection. In order to even become eligible to compete in Schutzhund training, the dog must pass certain temperament tests and obtain a BH degree. If you are interesed in learning more about Schutzhund training, you can click here. Anyway, I am convinced that Thor has some connection to this, whether it be his breeding or perhaps his former owner tried to train him in Schutzhund. This leads me to a whol new approach when training him now.
