Yesterday, just as I was wrestling to get Scatman to his feet, I got a call from my daughter about her Bassethound, Daisy Mae. I think you’ve read about her in other blogs. Daisy is getting up there, about 14, but has always been in good health. A couple weeks ago they noticed some swelling on Daisys face. The vet thought it was just an infection, possibly in her gums, so she was put on antitiotics. The swelling went down, but Daisy went off her food, so they took her off her antibiotics. She still wouldn’t eat or drink, and days passed and they knew she had to go back to the vet. Unfortunately, after spending the weekend with the vet on IV antibiotics, nothing would help Daisy. She has some type of tumor behind her eyes, in her head, and shes too old and with the heart murmer, surgery isn’t an option. Shes come home for a few days to say goodbye to the family she loves and the loves her. Soon she’ll be in doggie heaven with Kaiser. They didn’t like eachother much down here, but I’m sure that will change up there.
