This past week Thor and I have been practicing walking around the block without him pulling on the leash. I really thought tonight when we encountered Bobbie, the neighbors peacock, that we might have a problem, but he pretty much walked like a gentlement. The things that upset him the most were cars that come zooming by, and the dog up the street. Yep, the good old 13 year old Golden Retriever that owns the road. He was not happy that Thor and I were approaching his domain, and he let us know it. Thor was petrified. I bent down to ward off the Golden and talked him into advancing to his own yard instead of the middle of the street, so that sort of calmed Thor down. I’m not quite sure if his dragging me back to the house was the result of the encounter with the Golden or if it was because it was dinner time, but we will be practicing our walks again and again until he learns to walk like a gentlemen.
