Water Water Everywhere

Yep, when you travel with your pet, there is water everywhere. The rest stops, the gas stations, the restaurants, hotels, you name it. But, should you be filling their bowl with water from all the different stops. No. Everywhere you go the water is different. Different chemicals in it, different filtration systems, even different smells. Changing the water on your pet while travelling can lead to gastric upset, and we all know what that means then. I recommend travelling with your water. You can either stock up on water from home, which would be difficult, or use bottled water. You can also now purchase purified water sealed in a bowl for your pet at the pet stores. This way you don’t even need a bowl, its all right there and seals back up when your pet is done drinking. If you are sending your horse in a professional hauler, make sure that they take the 5 gallon jugs of water with them. Changing water can have a very severe effect on your horses, putting them into colic. Just a little travelling with your pet trip that you may not even think about.

Cindy-is there a best place to position pets in your car? Oscar and Belle have carriers, but I’ve unsure if they both should go in the backseat or if one should go in front, what with the airbags.

Hedy, if you are going to put a pet in the front seat, even in a carrier, I highly recommend shutting off the airbags. I also put my pets in the back, never in the middle of the seat, but directly behind my seat or the passenger seat I also recommend strapping your carriers in and do not have food in the carriers for the pets while travelling. They can eat when you are stopped. If you put a toy in the carrier, make sure its a very soft toy, just incase they would get bounced around.
