Ok, admit it, you’re an old timer if you remember that famous Cockatoo Fred from the show Baretta, with Robert Blake. But, did you know that Freds name was really "Lala". That name was derived from the constant lalalala which he liked to sing. Lala was actually smuggled into the USA with a bunch of chickens from Hong Kong. Though Lala only knew chinese at the time, his quck learning skills yielded to many phrases in English such as imitating a dog or cat, or saying I Love You. Lala had a couple birdie doubles in the show that did all the flying for him. After leaving Baretta, Lala went on to tour in bird shows at both Universal Studios and San Diego Wild Animal Park. Lala is now deceased, but did live the ripe old age of about 70 years old.
