Its been forever since I’ve had a little kitten in my house. Really, almost 12 years. Every cat I rescue seems to be older, or at the least, full grown. I’m just not prepared for kittens, and Ali, my newest addition, has proven that.
Just the other night we were sitting on the couch, just me rubbing her belly. Then all of a sudden up she jumped, she sprang from one end of the couch to the other. She was on my head, across my body, like she was shot out of a cannon. Then, in a nano second, there she was, flying across the couch, landing right on my new lamp, clinging to the lamp shade for dear life. Fortunately, my husband was right there. He immediately grabbed her off it and steadied the lamp, otherwise, my beautiful new lamp would have been in pieces.
I am so not use to this. I have bought her all kinds of balls and mice and toys with balls that go around in circles in them, scratching posts and whatever, but she really likes just bouncing around the furniture and doing flip flops in the air. I can’t help but smile at her when shes running around like a freak because I know in her few short months of life, she hasn’t had it easy, but, shes wearing my patience thin now. I’m so hoping she grows up quickly. Next time I see a kitten on the street, I just may have to look the other way.
You know that won’t happen.

I am having the same problem with my kitten, Haider. We can be relaxing one minute, and the next thing I know he has run the entire length of the apartment and has landed on my head with his nails deep in my skin….
Any suggestions?

Can’t say that I have any suggestions, but I have seen cats go nuts like that! I think it’s just in their nature! I had one cat, that I swear, would chase invisible bugs! It looked hilarious! He would run across the floor, then right up the curtains! It looked sooooo weird! I would go over by him, and there wouldn’t be anything there, but the cat! LOL He would drive me crazy! Then, it would be late at night, and I’d start dozing off on the couch, and my cat would be laying there with me, and all of a sudden, he would just bolt upright, scaring the crud out of me! Cats are just strange creatures!
